333444 Southend Taxis take to the water!

333444 Southend Taxis RNLI Charity Dip

On New Year’s Day 2018, 333444 Southend Taxis took to the water, raising some £130 for the RNLI. The RNLI has saved countless lives over the years, watching our shores day and night, and keeping local residents and visitors alike safe from the incoming tides which can easily cut you off from returning to the shore. For further information on Southend RNLI, just click here. Dave Gordon of 333444 Taxis said “It was a little fresh this morning, but it sure woke us all up. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and are now seeking our next fund raising adventure”. If you have any recommendations as to which local charity/cause we should support, please contact us via Twitter, Facebook or the contact form on our website. Happy New Year to you all from 333444 Southend Taxis!

Leigh Lights 24th November 2017!

Once again the ‘elves’ at Leigh Town Council have been working to bring you ‘Leigh Lights’ on Friday 24th November. The festivities will begin from 5 p.m. and the Town will be lit up as visitors arrive.

The Yuletide Parade, featuring joyful fundraisers including Essex Marching Corps, Starlight Productions, Players Theatre Company, Eastwood Lions and Southend RNLI will start from Kings Road at 6.30 p.m., travelling along Leigh Road, Broadway and Broadway West.

Stibbards & Sons are kindly sponsoring this year’s parade and the two best parade entries will receive £150 and £100 respectively to donate to their charity of choice. And, a new interactive system will allow the crowds to vote for their favourite entrants online.

Crowds will be entertained by a selection of wonderful local choirs and musical groups such as Funky Voices, Salvation Army and Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir, featured throughout the town at Liquid Flair and Oasis Café and in Elm Road. Leigh shops and businesses will be organising their own entertainment as well.

Look out for our new parade programme which will feature a map, parade entries,  timetables and special offers from traders to add to the nights enjoyment.

For children’s pre-event fun, stop by Leigh Community Centre from 4.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. where you can enjoy craft activities, face painting, storytellers and more! Thanks to Leigh Round Table you can have your picture taken on Santa’s sleigh and they will also be selling reasonably priced glow-sticks. This is the perfect opportunity for younger children to enjoy the event, whilst avoiding the crowds and cold weather outside!

If you are a vehicle owner, then the advice is to stay clear of the area from 5pm as the Broadway and Broadway West will be closed. Parking restrictions will be in place from 4.30 pm around town (3.30 pm in Elm Road) and there will be no traffic movement in Leigh Road from 6.15pm. Please see the advertised Traffic Management Order for full details.

The Leigh Lights will kick off the Council’s Yuletide Season which continues with a Christmas Craft Fayre on Saturday 2nd December, Carols on Strand Wharf on Saturday 9thDecember and Christmas Farmers Market on Saturday 23rd December.  An exciting time for Leigh residents and traders!
